Publishing & Authorship on the Knowledge Business Society

The complaints in this category follow a pattern: money paid up front, a manuscript handed over, then progress slows and the contact goes quiet. Recovering either the fee or the work is difficult once that starts.

Verification gives an author a named, identifiable counterparty and published terms before any of that can happen. Read those terms carefully, particularly the ones about rights.

What to ask before you buy

  • Who holds the rights and the ISBN when the work is finished
  • Titles they have worked on that you can find and read
  • What happens to your manuscript and your fee if the project stalls

KBS confirms identity, domain control, and published policies. It does not confirm licences, qualifications, or results, so these are worth asking directly.

What does verification mean?

KBS checks three things: the identity of the person behind the business, control of the domain they claim, and that a refund policy, terms of service and a working support contact are published and reachable. Those checks are re-run while a membership is active.

It is not a rating and not a recommendation. Verification says nothing about service quality or what results anyone will get.
