What does a finance or investing educator do?
Finance and investing educators teach: budgeting and personal finance, how markets and investing work, trading strategies, real estate investing, or how to understand taxes and build wealth. They sell courses, coaching, communities and live events.
Education is not the same as personal financial advice. An educator explains how something works. A licensed financial adviser or broker recommends what you specifically should do with your money, and is regulated for it. Know which of the two you are buying.
How do you check a finance or investing educator?
Start with the website. Impersonators copy a real educator's name, photo and posts and run the same offer from a lookalike domain. Make sure the domain you are paying on matches the one on the educator's verification record, because an impersonator cannot get a record for a domain they do not control.
If someone gives personal investment advice or manages money, check their registration with the regulator where they operate. In the United States, FINRA BrokerCheck and the SEC's Investment Adviser Public Disclosure site are free to search. KBS is not a financial regulator and does not check licenses.

A financial educator teaches general knowledge about money, investing or real estate. A financial adviser gives personal recommendations about your money and must be registered or licensed to do so. Education is not personalized financial advice.
How do I spot a fake trading or investing educator?
Watch for guaranteed returns, pressure to act immediately, payment through unusual channels, and websites that look like a known educator's but use a slightly different domain. Compare the domain with the one on the educator's verification record before you pay.
Are real estate investing courses worth it?
That depends on what you need and on the teacher's own track record. Ask what deals they have done themselves, how current the material is, what support you get after the course, and what the refund terms are, in writing, before you buy.
