Fake accounts copy a real educator's name, photo and posts, then run the same offer from a lookalike domain. The people who get caught are usually the ones who checked the name, found it matched, and stopped there.
Checking the domain against a verification record defeats most of that, because an impersonator cannot produce one for a domain they do not control. Be clear on what this is not. It is not a regulatory licence, and KBS is not a financial regulator.

What to ask before you buy
- Whether they are registered with a financial regulator, and where
- If they are paid by any broker, lender or platform they recommend
- That the domain you are buying from matches the one on their record
KBS confirms identity, domain control, and published policies. It does not confirm licences, qualifications, or results, so these are worth asking directly.
What does verification mean?
KBS checks three things: the identity of the person behind the business, control of the domain they claim, and that a refund policy, terms of service and a working support contact are published and reachable. Those checks are re-run while a membership is active.
It is not a rating and not a recommendation. Verification says nothing about service quality or what results anyone will get.
